HORSEY WHARF (SONLIFE REMIX)

Theatrical South London band Horsey released their debut album back in the summer. Horsey's lyrics are largely nonsensical and comedic, whilst the instrumentation is outlandishly jazzy and prog-infused. The band have released 'Wharf (SONLIFE Remix)', enlisting producer friend SONLIFE to weave together the dreamy instrumental sounds of 'Wharf (i)', and its sister song 'Wharf (ii)'. Stripping everything back to basics, SONLIFE rearranges the drums for a simple new pattern and uses ghostly trumpet samples. Synthesiser and percussion allude to something dancier to come as the track slowly swells like a sponge. The simple jazz feel is transformed when an electronic beat is introduced planting a new groove. Jacob Reed's vocals become more sultry from being pitched lower, echoing the sounds of Bristol trip hop. Check out 'Wharf SONLIFE REMIX)' here! -Ellie Rose-Davies
